Artwork
Kate painted Granny’s Garden as a heartfelt gift from Tom to his Grandpa, celebrating his wife and Tom's Granny from the other side of the family. Tom’s grandmother, a passionate gardener, spent years advising the Melbourne and Geelong Botanical Gardens. She was a wellspring of knowledge and inspiration for Tom, who frequently sought her advice, especially during pruning season.

Tasting Notes
This Rouge (Nouveau) is the perfect year-round red wine. Chill it to savour its tart cherry, dried fig, clove, and subtle vanilla notes on a hot summer day. It’s been described by friends and family as “smashable”, so we think it’s an ideal wine to take to the park and pair with your takeaway pizza.

Winemaking
First the juicy Tempranillo’s wild fermentation kicked off and moved quickly, creating some more savoury tones until, after 8 days on its skins, it was pressed and added to the freshly received Sangiovese. The cooler, slower co-fermentation was allowed on the Sangiovese skins for just 4 days until being pressed lightly to stainless steel to maintain the light, silky profile. The now-coined Granny’s Garden completed it’s wild primary and malolactic fermentations in stainless steel then settled in there for 4 months before being bottled early in August, capturing that fresh youthfulness.

Vineyard
In this first iteration of the Granny’s Garden is a blend of two predominant varieties from Victorian locations. However, it should be noted that this is subject to change each year as the wine is intended to be a floating expression of the most suitable fruit for a nouveau-style red to hit the winery from each vintage. This year it is made up of approx. 35% Tempranillo from Heathcote and 65% Sangiovese from the Pyrenees, with splashes of Pinot Gris and Syrah in there too.
